DESCRIPTION:Bullying Prevention and Awareness Week is dedicated to promoting safer schools and positive learning environments. Staff and students will be involved in a variety of activities that reinforce the importance of a positive school climate and learning about ways healthy relationships can greatly affect the learning community. Parents and Caregivers in our Catholic community play a vital role in Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week. It is an opportunity to embrace our Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board theme\, “Pilgrims of Hope” by honouring human dignity\, by caring for creation\, by responding to the poverties in our world\, by serving in solidarity\, and by living as peacemakers.  \n \nParents/caregivers are encouraged to continue to learn and raise awareness of bullying and cyberbullying and work towards prevention. Keep in mind children and youth may be reluctant or unsure how to talk about bullying.  \nHere are some signs to look out for:  \n• complaining of being sick on school days  \n• having disrupted sleeping or eating habits  \n• not joining social events with other students  \n• acting differently than they normally do  \n• seeming distressed after phone\, text or social media contact with others  \n• suddenly losing money or personal items  \n• coming home with torn clothes or broken possessions \n \nWe all have a responsibility to stop bullying. It was Remembrance Day\, a day to honour the brave Canadian war veterans. The children were eager to see the parade marching down the street\, led by veterans wearing their uniforms with pride. \nAfter the parade\, the veterans gathered in the town square to share their stories. They talked about their time in the war\, the friends they had made\, and the challenges they had faced. The children listened intently\, amazed by the bravery and courage of the veterans. \n \nAs the clock struck 11:00 a.m.\, the people fell silent for a moment of remembrance. The children stood with the veterans\, while listening to the trumpet as “The Last Post’ rang out\, promising to never forget the sacrifices that had been made. DESCRIPTION:We will be hosting a Hallowe’en dance in the gym for all classes on October 31st. The students will\nhave a schedule for the dance times during school hours. All students in Grades JK – 8 will participate. \nPopcorn will be available for $2 per bag\, with proceeds going to our Camp Celtic trip in the spring. \nChildren are to wear their costumes to school. Costumes must not conflict with our Catholic\nvalues. Costumes are to be modest and school appropriate. No blood or gore are to be worn at\nschool. Violent accessories such as knives\, guns\, spears\, and swords are not permitted at school.\nMasks will not be worn at school\, since the mask may obstruct the student’s ability to see. \nFollowing the dance\, students will return to their classrooms for class activities. \nIf you are sending treats for the class they must be store bought and nut free. Please let the teacher know if\nyour child has any food restrictions. \n  \n
